What happens

In spring Paris, American composer Shirley Sheridan meets the composer Victor Florescu on the banks of the Seine, and the two feel an immediate attraction. Victor declines to dine with her and asks for her address, but she only gives an address at American Express. Later, Shirley's songs are heard by Michi Yudhode, a theatrical producer who is working on a new operetta with Victor's score. Victor dismisses Shirley's songs as trash, and Shirley, hurt by his reaction, decides to leave for America. Pompano, a street vendor of songs, watches over the two and tries to bring them together.

Paris, in the spring, along the Seine and in the Latin Quarter

Characters: Shirley Sheridan, Victor Florescu, Pompano, Michi Yudhode, Jules Dode, Odette

Listen for: Shirley's songs 'She Didn't Say Yes' and 'The Love Parade', and Victor's response to them

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
