What happens
Pilot Lieutenant Yurid and gunner Joe are shot down over Okinawa during a bombing run in the Ryukyu Islands. Their rubber boat washes ashore, where Joe dies of his wounds, and Yurid is sheltered by Father Fennelou, a French missionary who has lived on the island for decades. Yurid spends days in hiding, recording what he sees of Japanese military installations, and learns about the Ryukyu chain and its strategic importance from the priest. The episode is part of the Pacific Story series, first broadcast on April 1, 1945, on the National Broadcasting Company network.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
