What happens
The Pacific Story traces the career of Japanese naval officer Isoroku Yamamoto, from his youth as a cadet through his rise in the navy. The episode opens with the 1905 Battle of Tsushima, where Admiral Togo intercepts and engages the Russian fleet, and Ensign Yamamoto serves aboard the flagship Mikasa. The narrator then describes the early history of the Japanese navy and Yamamoto's growing interest in aircraft carriers. Later segments cover the naval treaty disputes of the 1920s and 1930s, and Yamamoto's posting to Washington and London. The transcript is machine-made and was cut short, so the account stops before the war years in detail.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
