What happens
The Pacific Story presents the history of the Dutch East Indies, from the English naval landing at Batavia in 1811 through the nineteenth-century reform movement and the long war in Achin. It follows the Chinese, Arabian and Japanese communities who lived there alongside the Dutch and Indonesian people. The program ends with the Japanese invasion of Java in the early 1940s, when Dutch families are forced to flee the coming fighting. Writer and director Arnold Marquis wrote the program, which was broadcast on the National Broadcasting Company on December 19, 1943.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
