What happens

In 1840s Sarawak on the coast of Borneo, the Dayak prince of the kingdom is threatened by rebellion among his tribes. Englishman James Brooke arrives by ship, offers to help restore order, and is made Rajah in exchange for his aid. The episode follows his early years of ruling, including his efforts to stop cruel customs, his dealings with Chinese miners and traders, and the rebellion that tests his leadership. Narrated in the style of the Pacific Story series, the program was originally broadcast on March 10, 1946, on NBC. The story is told largely through the voice of an old Dayak narrator addressing a son.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
