What happens
Russian officials and a visiting American discuss how the Soviet Union plans to rebuild its war-damaged cities and push its development eastward. They describe the devastation of the Donbas region, the need for warm-water ports, and the vast resources of Siberia and eastern Russia. The conversation moves through community, regional and social-economic planning, covering zoned city layouts, hydroelectric dams on the Volga and in Central Asia, and the Kuznetsk and Magnitogorsk steel projects. This is the second program in the United Nations series of The Pacific Story, broadcast on NBC in 1946.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
