What happens
The Pacific Story examines the Dutch East Indies, now called Java and Indonesia, as the Dutch and British forces move to disarm the Japanese and suppress uprisings. The program traces the rise of Indonesian nationalism through leaders such as Salem, Sukarno and Hatta, from early revolts and Dutch concessions to the Japanese occupation and the proclamation of an independent Indonesian republic. It describes the bitter fighting that followed the British landing at Surabaya, the diplomatic offers from the Dutch government, and the competing visions for the islands' future. The episode was broadcast on November 25, 1945 by the National Broadcasting Company and its affiliated stations.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
