What happens
The Pacific Story looks at India's contribution to the Second World War through a series of accounts. A Bengali father, Mr. Choudhuri, introduces his son Vishwanath, a skilled technician at the Tata steel works in Jamshedpur, where armour plate and guns are produced. Vishwanath describes his training in England and his return to India as a supervisor. Other segments cover the Indian Air Force in Burma, the Royal Indian Navy in convoy battles off Singapore, and the Fourth Indian Division in North Africa, including the actions of Subedar Richpal Ram. The episode closes with a commentary by Sir Frederick Puckle on India's war effort and its significance for the future.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
