What happens
Long John Silver, a one-legged sea cook, joins a voyage to Treasure Island aboard the Hispaniola, led by Squire Trelawney and Doctor Livesey. The story is told by Jim Hawkins, a young innkeeper's son, who recalls how the mysterious old sailor known as the Captain came to live under his family's roof at the Admiral Benbow Inn. After the Captain's death, Jim and his mother find a map that other men are seeking. The Mercury Theatre on the Air, a summer series, presented this adaptation of Robert Louis Stevenson's novel on July 18, 1938, with Orson Welles in the roles of Long John Silver and Jim Hawkins.
An English coastal inn at Black Hill Cove, and later the schooner Hispaniola sailing from Bristol toward Treasure Island.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
