What happens

Harry Lime, a broke drifter in Paris, answers a newspaper ad and receives an airline ticket to Tangier with money enclosed. On the flight he meets Patsy, an airline hostess, who takes him to a hilltop villa that once belonged to a man named Rico Mugetti. Patsy claims Rico left behind a valuable cache of heroin hidden in a rolled carpet, and she asks Harry for help selling it. Their conversation turns tense as Harry probes her background and her role in Rico's death. This episode of The Mercury Theatre on the Air, a Lives of Harry Lime story adapted from the film The Third Man, features Orson Welles as Harry Lime. The original air date is August 24, 1951.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
