What happens
Joe Souther and Jeff Carter are professional flyers who carry mail across the mountains of Barranca, a South American republic, for the company run by the Dutchman. When a new pilot, Bonnie Lee, arrives by boat, she is drawn into the men's tense, risk-filled world at the airport cafe. A fog-bound landing tests the crew's nerve and shows the stakes of the job. Heard in the Campbell Playhouse presentation of the Mercury Theatre on the Air, starring Orson Welles and Joan Blondell, the broadcast was first aired on February 25, 1940, and adapts the Columbia picture of the same name. The episode follows the fliers' routine and the growing attraction between Bonnie and Jeff.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
