What happens

Harry Lime, a shrewd dealer in art and dubious goods, is quarantined in a Greek port hotel after a hotel doctor declares him to have measles. A woman named Andrea appears in his room and claims that a man has been killed next door, and she tells him a tangled story about Greek politics, a missing husband, and a secret shipment. Harry becomes entangled in her troubles as a fake public health officer arrives and a tense night unfolds. The episode is part of The Mercury Theatre on the Air, originally broadcast on July 25, 1952, and is an adventure from the Harry Lime series based on the film The Third Man.

A hotel in the Greek port of Piraeus, where Harry is quarantined in room 34, and later the harbor docks.

Characters: Harry Lime, Andrea, Dr. Papanikolos, Gregor, the Captain

Listen for: Harry's wry narration as he sizes up Andrea's story, and the tense exchanges with the false health officer.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
