What happens
Harry Lime, an American in Algiers, courts Valerie Darouche, granddaughter of the wealthy old Amand Darouche, whose estate stands inland near the ruins of the old Barbary pirate Barbarossa. Lime soon finds himself drawn into a dangerous scheme. A police inspector questions him about a man named Mario Muscat, and a gangster leader named El Sikina demands information about a hidden treasure. Lime is caught between the criminals, the police and the Darouche household as the legend of Barbarossa's gold begins to take shape. This episode is from The Mercury Theatre on the Air, first broadcast on 1951-12-14, with Orson Welles as Harry Lime.
