What happens
Pianist Roger Blaine, recovering in a hospital after a car crash cost him his left hand, becomes obsessed with obtaining a replacement. He is linked to Lorna and her husband, Dr. Martin Trent, and meets Joe Harris, a pickpocket who offers a proposition. The story is told in the Murder at Midnight series, with a radio-style narration and dramatic dialogue. Blaine's desperation grows as he pursues a dangerous plan, and his mental state deteriorates as his hand seems to take on a will of its own.
A studio cottage on Dr. Martin Trent's estate, a hospital room, and the Trent house.
Characters: Roger Blaine, Lorna, Martin Trent, Joe Harris
Listen for: Blaine's growing obsession with getting a new hand, and the strange sensations he reports in his bandaged left hand.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
