What happens
Gillian Jones and the Captain are trapped in the submerged colony of Eucidia beneath the sea, a city that G-47 intends to keep underwater for a long time. During a tour, the group meets the girl submarine commander, who gives them news that offers a slight hope of escape. Afraid of being overheard, they meet secretly in an open agricultural section of the city, where the commander shares a plan involving the homing pigeons kept in a laboratory. She advises them to earn G-47's trust by accompanying submarine and rocket test runs and to carry something large enough to hold a pigeon. The group agrees to be patient, act hopeless, and keep their plans quiet.
