What happens

Father Burke, rector of St. Anthony's College in New York, learns the struggling school faces closure over a $170,000 debt. He hires Steve Williams, a former football coach who has been pushed out of major college sports, to build a team that might save the college. Steve's life is complicated by his young daughter Carol, whose mother wants custody, and by Alice Singleton, a social worker from the Court of Domestic Relations assigned to investigate them. Lux Radio Theatre presented this February 15, 1954 episode starring Jack Carson and June Haver, with Sherry Jackson as Carol. The story follows the college's efforts to rebuild its football program and the growing tension between Steve and Alice.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
