What happens
San Francisco detective Sam Wise and his assistant Jean pursue Kate Kerrigan, a wealthy society woman wanted for the death of Thomas Brumas, after she flees across the Pacific. Detective Bludgett, a slower-thinking colleague, follows the trail through Hawaii and Shanghai. The episode is an adaptation of the film Trade Winds, broadcast as part of the Lux Radio Theatre series on March 4, 1940, starring Errol Flynn, Joan Bennett, Mary Astor and Ralph Bellamy. The story is set largely in San Francisco, Honolulu and the Far East. Sam's pursuit of Kate grows personal as he gets close to her, and his relationship with Jean becomes entangled with the case.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
