What happens
Aubrey Piper, a salesman with a talent for getting into trouble, courts Amy Fisher, whose mother Mrs. Fisher and father are wary of him. Amy and Aubrey marry, but money soon becomes a strain. Aubrey's claims about his job and income prove shaky, and the household finances grow tight. Joe Fisher, Amy's brother, works on an invention to prevent rust, and Aubrey begins to take an interest in it. Gildersleeve stars as Aubrey, with Una Merkel as Amy and Gale Gordon's co-stars Bea Benaderet as Mrs. Fisher. Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
