What happens

Miss Moffatt, a schoolteacher, arrives in the Welsh village of Glen Sarno and opens a school for children who work in the local mine. She recruits Mr. Jones, a clerk, to help her, and the two of them begin teaching the village's young miners to read and write. The squire opposes the school, and local objections mount. Among the pupils, Morgan Evans shows exceptional ability, and Miss Moffatt begins to plan for his future. This recording is part of the Lux Radio Theatre broadcast of June 12, 1950, starring Olivia de Havilland and Richard Basshart. The story continues across the episode.

A small Welsh mining village called Glen Sarno, about fifty years earlier, in an old house beside a disused barn.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
