What happens
Jean Lafitte, a pirate leader in the swamps of Louisiana, is shown at the Temple, his thieves' market near New Orleans, where stolen goods are sold openly. Governor Claybourne posts a reward for his capture, and Senator Crawford approaches him with an offer from the British. Lafitte meets Annette D'Ramey, a woman he loves, who wants him to become respectable. This program, the Lux Radio Theatre, is a 1938 adaptation of The Buccaneer, broadcast on November 14, 1938, starring Clark Gable, Lamont Bradna, Akim Tamiroff and Gertrude Michael. The story continues as Lafitte must decide between his loyalties.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
