What happens
Peggy McLaren, a young woman with no home or job, is brought before the night court in Manhattan and charged with vagrancy. Novelist Mac McMillan, struck by her character, takes her into his mother's household to study her for his book. Peggy settles into the comfortable house, while Mac's younger brother Steve, a restless and troubled man, begins to form a bond with her. The episode is part of the Lux Radio Theatre series, originally broadcast on July 13, 1936, and stars Marion Davies as Peggy and Joel McCrea as Steve. The story follows the household's tensions and the growing relationship between Peggy and the McMillan family.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
