What happens

In German East Africa during the First World War, Rose Sayer and her brother Samuel run a remote mission, visited only by Charlie Allnut, the drunken pilot of the battered launch African Queen. When news of the war reaches them, Rose learns that her brother has died after a German raid, and she persuades Charlie to help her strike back. Their plan is to take the African Queen down a dangerous river and turn her into a makeshift torpedo against the German steamer Louisa, which commands the lake. The story is adapted from the 1951 film for Lux Radio Theatre, first broadcast on December 15, 1952, with Greer Garson and Humphrey Bogart in the lead roles.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
