What happens
Snug Dominique quarrels constantly with his stepbrother Stretch and with Milton Dominique, the stepfather who has been bullying him. When Milton abruptly leaves the farm, he makes a will leaving everything to Snug, and Roar McGill hires Snug as a farmhand. Snug then buys a pair of unruly mules from Roar on a contract, and with help from the older farmer Tony he tries to train them. Meanwhile Rad McGill and Snug grow closer, and Stretch keeps trying to get his way. The story follows the mules' training and the strained relationships around the farm. This guide covers only the early part of the episode. Lux Radio Theatre, original air date October 24, 1949, stars June Haver and Lon McAllister.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
