What happens

Joe Adams, a gambler who runs a ship called the Fortuna, is short of money and wants to sail to Havana. When his partner Zeb draws a draft card and a 4F classification, Joe wins a card game to claim the ship and changes his name to Joe Baskopoulos to avoid the draft. Posing as a war relief organizer, he tries to raise $100,000 by setting up gambling at a charity ball, while Dorothy Bryant, a relief worker, watches him closely. Cary Grant stars as Joe, with Lorraine Day as Dorothy, in this Lux Radio Theatre adaptation of the RKO film Mister Lucky, first broadcast October 18, 1943.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
