What happens
Jim and Muriel Blandings, a New York couple with two daughters, have outgrown their cramped apartment and decide to buy a country house in Connecticut. Jim, an advertising man, is eager to own a place of their own, and he acquires an old house from a seller named Hackett. Their plans quickly grow complicated as the property's condition and the costs of renovating or building a new home come under scrutiny. This is an episode of the Lux Radio Theatre, presented in 1949, starring Cary Grant as Jim and Irene Dunne as Muriel. The story builds from their first purchase through a series of expensive and troubling decisions about the house.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
