What happens
Irene O'Dare, a red-haired shop girl at a New York department store, is reprimanded by her manager, Mr. Sweeney, for reading a fashion magazine on the job. Later, Irene is sent to the home of wealthy customer Mrs. Marshall, where she meets Donald Marshall, who has been scolding her for her forward manner. Donald, who is charmed by her, proposes that she pose as a famous Irish singer and model gowns for a dressmaker, Madame Lucy, to help her escape her hard life. The episode is part of the Lux Radio Theatre series, broadcast on June 29, 1936, and stars Jeanette McDonald as Irene and Regis Toomey as Donald.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
