What happens

Sparky Thornton arrives at Roundhouse Farm, the home of his uncle Thunder and Aunt Penny, after the death of the aunt who raised him. Sparky soon finds his way past the fence to the neighboring farm of Mr. Bull, where the trotting horses are kept, and he takes a quiet liking to the harness racing world. Thunder, who once trained champion trotters, drinks heavily and has lost nearly everything since an old quarrel with Mr. Bull over a horse. Sparky's friendship with Char Bull and his work with the blind mare Lady draw him deeper into the sport. This episode of Lux Radio Theatre, first broadcast on 1944-10-02, stars Walter Brennan, Charlotte Greenwood, Edward Ryan, Gene Crane and June Haver.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
