What happens

Young medical student John Bevan clashes with the stern surgeon Dr. Max Foster during his training at a medical college. Bevan, a former preacher's son, is driven by scientific ambition and resents the demands of his teacher, while his friend Andy warns him that he is too harsh with the students. Bevan is later chosen to take charge of laboratory sessions and receives the valedictory honor at graduation. Years later he is called to operate on Audrey Hilton, a patient brought from China by Dr. Cunningham, after Foster injures his hand. Lux Radio Theatre presents this adaptation of Lloyd Douglas's novel Disputed Passage, starring Alan Ladd, Akim Tamiroff and Anne Richards, first broadcast on March 5, 1945.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
