What happens
Detective Jim McLeod of the 21st Precinct in New York pursues Kurt Schneider, a man accused of an illegal medical practice that left a young woman dead. Schneider surrenders through his lawyer, Mr. Sims, who accuses McLeod of personal vendetta. Meanwhile, McLeod questions a young clerk, Arthur Pritchett, who admits stealing $480 to spend on his girlfriend. McLeod's pursuit of Schneider grows harsher, and tensions rise between the detective and his superiors. This is the April 26, 1954 broadcast of Lux Radio Theatre, starring Kirk Douglas as McLeod and Eleanor Parker as Mary.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
