What happens

Dawn Travers waits at a railway station near Santa Maria, California, for her fiance Henry Hume, who never arrives. A stranger named Larry Michael, holding a gun and claiming to be a fugitive, forces her to help him hide from policemen. Dawn agrees to pose as his companion and later to take him to her aunt's house as Henry. The episode is from the Love Story Magazine series, first broadcast on April 16, 1937, and is a romance drama with a light comic edge.

Santa Maria, California, a railway station, a sports roadster, and an aunt's estate; later a steamship office in San Francisco

Characters: Dawn Travers, Larry Michael, Aunt Rosa, Henry Hume, Jim Travers

Listen for: Dawn's first meeting with Larry at the station, when he holds her at gunpoint under her red cape

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
