What happens
Jerry of the Circus follows Jerry, a young circus boy, as the strongman Balco prepares a feat of strength for a lady he admires, and the circus owner Randall is visited by Joe Hadley, a newly hired clown. Randall explains to Hadley that his ex-convict worker Spike was once tied to a criminal robbery, and Hadley decides to meet Spike through Jerry. Jerry is loyal to Spike, who once saved his life. Hadley then mentions a connection to a trial involving Spike and a telegram arrives for him. The broadcast is part of the series from October 25, 1937.
A circus winter quarters and lot, with the circus grounds, the sideshow and the strongman's props.
Characters: Jerry, Balco, Mr. Randall, Joe Hadley, Spike, Miss Pazzi, Jefferson Whitley
Listen for: Whether Hadley's interest in Spike is what it seems, and what the telegram from the penitentiary says.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
