What happens

Richard Grayson, a young lawyer, discovers that the clown in the circus ring is his estranged father, John Bradley Grayson, a former Shakespearean actor who has been hiding his circus work from him. Mr. Randall, the circus manager, and Jerry try to keep the father and son apart so that the older man is not humiliated and his heart is not strained by the encounter. Richard and his fiancée Sally Gray come to the circus for a party, and Richard insists on seeing his father despite the warnings. The episode is part of the Jerry of the Circus series and first aired on August 17, 1937.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
