What happens

John Kellam, a middle-aged man married to the much younger Celeste, comes to feel that she married him only for his money and that he has been caught in a plot against his life. Kellam wishes for her death, and when a dream and a road ambush seem to follow, he is left unsure what is real. The episode is part of the Inner Sanctum Mysteries series, written by John Robert Lee and starring Carl Swenson as John and Leslie Woods as Celeste. The original air date was November 14, 1949.

A country highway, a pine grove, and the Kellam house, in the present day.

Characters: John Kellam, Celeste Kellam, Mrs. Rockwood Bay

Listen for: Kellam's shifting certainty about what he has really seen, and the sound of the household routine that keeps going on around him.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
