What happens

Simon Prentice, an elderly man, sits in his apartment fearing that younger relatives want him dead, and he has a poker ready. He is wounded with a thin knife and his cousin Ellen tries to help him. Ellen later leaves the building and is seen by someone who may recognize her. The story follows Ellen's efforts to find help and the mounting suspicion around the apartment, with the series' signature atmosphere of dread. Inner Sanctum Mysteries, the 1946 episode Death's Old Sweet Song, was written by Lou Vittis and stars Merciles McCame Bridge as Fagt. It aired on November 4, 1946.

Characters: Simon Prentice, Ellen, John

Listen for: The knife wound, the poker, and the reactions of Ellen and John as the suspicion grows

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
