What happens

Britt Reid, the young publisher who secretly fights crime as the Green Hornet, and his valet Cato look into a murder outside the British consulate in a storm. A courier carrying papers was shot, and Inspector Martin of the Federal Bureau takes the case. Reid, posing as a reporter, finds a blind pencil peddler outside the Sentinel Building who appears to be passing hidden messages to foreign agents. Reid buys one of the pencils, and inside he discovers a rolled-up slip of paper. Working with Cato, he begins tracing a lead toward an old roadhouse called the Old Mill. This is an episode of The Green Hornet, first broadcast on October 10, 1944.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
