What happens

Lou Barker, released on parole after three years in prison, is bent on revenge against the man whose testimony sent him there. With his associates Johnny and Slugger, Barker plots against Britt Reid, a young publisher of the Daily Sentinel. Reid survives an ambush outside the newspaper office, and the gangsters soon learn he is still alive. Reid's secretary, Lenore Case, and his friend Michael Axford are drawn into the danger as the criminals close in. The Green Hornet series, broadcast on 1944-05-16, follows Reid and his Filipino valet Kato as they prepare to turn the tables on the men hunting him.

A city in the 1940s, including a prison gate, a newspaper office, a poor-district hideout, and a dark street near the Sentinel building.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
