What happens

Anton Wyckoff, a banker, is shot dead in his study one night, and Sergeant Burke and reporter Michael Axford arrive to investigate. Five people were in the house, and each has a possible motive, so suspicion falls on all of them. Britt Reid, publisher by day and the Green Hornet by night, with his valet Kato, sets out to examine the dead man's papers and then visit the Wyckoff home. The episode is part of The Green Hornet series, first aired on April 11, 1944, and its lead roles are not named in the transcript.

A city, in the banker Anton Wyckoff's study and library at his home, and his downtown bank office.

Characters: Britt Reid, Kato, Anton Wyckoff, Sergeant Burke, Michael Axford, Victor Wyckoff, Lucy Wyckoff, Brian Burton

Listen for: Pay attention to how the suspects' alibis and motives are weighed against one another, and to what the papers in the dead banker's desk reveal.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
