What happens
Britt Reid, publisher of the Daily Sentinel, accepts a dinner invitation from Carl Finley, a wealthy and hostile man who has invited four rivals to his penthouse. Over dessert Finley declares that one of his guests has sent him a threatening note, and the lights go out. When they come back on, Finley lies dead of a stab wound. The guests are held for questioning by Inspector Evans, and Reid later visits each of them in disguise as the Green Hornet, pressing them to see who will crack under pressure. The Green Hornet series aired on ABC, and this episode's original air date is January 5, 1947.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
