What happens

Golden Gate Quartet Sings presents a program of American folk songs performed by the Golden Gate Quartet, with Tom Scott as host. The songs cover a range of tales about animals. One song follows a bull weevil that destroys a farmer's crop, and the farmer's own efforts to be rid of it. Another tells of a frog who rides to the house of Miss Mouse to ask for her hand, a lady who is in love with a pig, and a fox hunt where the dogs are chasing the quarry through the woods. The program is built around the songs themselves, with the quartet singing and Tom Scott introducing each one.

A radio program of American folk songs, with stories set in farm country, the countryside and the woods.

Characters: Tom Scott, Froggy, Miss Mouse, Uncle Rat

Listen for: The bull weevil song, with the farmer and his cotton, and the frog who rides to Miss Mouse's door.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
