What happens
Dave Latimer, a cab driver, and his fiancée Cathy Vane are drawn into an experiment proposed by John Slake, a wealthy man who argues that no couple's love can survive hardship. Slake offers them $10,000 if they can endure a week without food in a locked room in his mansion, with a single piece of bread to be thrown between them at the end. The episode is from the CBS series Escape, first broadcast on 11 October 1953. Tony Barrett and George Ellis lead the cast, with William Conrad as Slake. The story follows the couple as their hunger grows and their tempers and their bond come under strain.
