What happens

Jim Kahneman, an American drifter in a Mexican coastal town, is approached by Marshall Rhodes, who offers him a bargain: a lost payroll of $40,000 from a crashed Salazar mining company plane. Rhodes' fellow Americans are not named as such, and Kahneman agrees to hire a boat. He sails with Ramon Chavez and the fisherman's companion Maria toward a small island offshore, where strange currents and unrest in the water complicate the journey. The episode is from the Escape series, first broadcast on October 12, 1952, and is adapted from E. Jack Newman's story. Lead actor William Conrad is credited in the cast.

A dusty Mexican coastal town and a barren island off the west coast of Mexico

Characters: Jim Kahneman, Marshall Rhodes, Ramon Chavez, Maria

Listen for: The sharp exchanges between Kahneman and Rhodes in the cantina, and the rumbling beneath the water as the boat approaches the island

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
