What happens

Jack Rhett, a professional gunman, is hired as sheriff of Red Mesa, a small frontier town beside the Chisholm Trail, after the previous sheriff is killed. The town's committee hopes he will bring order, but Rhett's cold, uncompromising manner unsettles the saloon keeper Bo Helen and the citizens. Rhett clashes with Bo Helen, while Matt Travener, a U.S. Deputy Marshal, watches the situation and weighs whether to back him. Escape, the Ernest Haycox story adapted by John Meston, is a 1950 episode with John Dehner in the title role. Rhett grows wary of the men around him as tension builds in the town.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
