What happens
Marcel Aymé's tale Crossing Paris follows a butcher's carrier during the German occupation of Paris, who works smuggling black market pork through the city at night. His assistant is Jean-Pierre, a big, unpredictable man who joins him on a delivery to Montmartre. The pair are stopped and robbed, and the carrier meets Jean-Pierre's sinister, violent behavior with growing unease. Escape presents the story in its series format, broadcast on August 25, 1950, with a cast led by Jane Ovela and Bill Conrad. Tense and atmospheric, the episode follows the two men through the frozen streets of the city, where every patrol and shadow carries danger.
Occupied Paris during the German occupation, in winter, including a cafe near the Boulevard de la Bastille, a cellar, Montmartre and the streets along the Seine.

Listen for: The tense confrontation between Pierre and Jean-Pierre on the frozen streets of occupied Paris.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
