What happens
Ben, a young man raised on a ranch after being found half-dead in the desert as a child, buys a black horse with a white star and treasures it above anything. When the gunman Kirby Hunsaker takes the horse in exchange for a palomino, Ben's resentment begins to take shape. The ranch hands Dan and Sam watch him grow into a man consumed by a single purpose. The story is part of the Escape series, which first aired on June 23, 1950, and is performed by Barton Yarborough, Sam Edwards, Will Geer and Ted Osborn. Ben's life becomes shaped by his memory of the horse and his reliance on the gun he was given.
The American Old West, including a desert, a ranch, a small town and the frontier town of Flagstaff.

Listen for: Ben's confrontation with Kirby Hunsaker over the black horse with the star in its face.
Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
