What happens

Captain John Black leads the crew of the American rocket ship Venture on the first voyage to Mars, and Dr. Sam Hinkston accompanies him on the reconnaissance. On landing they find a small town that looks like Green Lake, Ohio, complete with a Victorian house and a piano playing. Sam meets his long-dead grandmother, and John is reunited with Phyllis, his former sweetheart. Their growing unease about the town's nature is the central puzzle of the story. This is the Escape episode 'Mars Is Heaven,' broadcast on June 2, 1950, adapted by Martin Fine and David Friedkin from Ray Bradbury's story and starring Jeff Corey as Captain Black.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
