What happens
Mr. Fotheringay, a self-assured man who prides himself on scientific reason, argues with Toddy Beamish at the Long Dragon Bar. When Fotheringay points at a lamp and makes it hang upside down and burn, he discovers he has the power to work miracles. Soon he is turning objects into flowers, fish and food, and his new power lands him in trouble with the village constable, Wench. Fotheringay seeks advice from the Reverend Maydig, and their conversation becomes a series of increasingly astonishing requests. This episode of Escape adapts H.G. Wells's story and is drawn from its first part.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
