What happens

The Comic Weekly Man reads the funnies aloud to young listeners, guided by a helper named Miss Honey. Cartoon strips include Beetle Bailey, where a surprise inspection leads a soldier into trouble with his captain, and Prince Valiant, where Tilakum follows the trail of kidnappers through the forest. Robin Hood and Donald Duck also appear, along with Blondie, Roy Rogers, Dick's Adventures, and Rusty Riley, whose hero is about to enter a horse race to win money for a widow's farm. Each strip is read in turn, with the story left at a cliffhanger for next week's broadcast. The Comic Weekly series aired on 1952-11-02.

A home living room, where the Comic Weekly Man reads the comic strips aloud, moving through strips set in the army, the medieval forest, Sherwood, a duck's house, a city street, the Wild West, an alien planet, the War of 1812 and a horse track.

Listen for: The reader's voice moving from strip to strip, and the Comic Weekly Man's chatty comments introducing each one.

Written from the episode itself; it never gives away the ending. Every recording is remastered for the stream: cleaned of rumble, hiss and mains hum (and the old TV whine where we found it), then levelled in two passes to steady broadcast loudness, so one show is never quieter than the next.
