War Of The Worlds

The War of the Worlds, October 30, 1938
On the night before Halloween 1938, The Mercury Theatre on the Air played H. G. Wells' novel as a run of news bulletins, and a part of its audience took the Martian landing at Grover's Mill, New Jersey for the real thing. The broadcast plays on Stupid Potato's Orson Welles channel with the rest of the Mercury Theatre's 1938 season, and the 1955 Lux Radio Theatre version is on Opening Night.
The broadcast is in the public domain; our copy is remastered: rumble, hiss and hum cleaned out, then levelled to steady broadcast loudness.
Free, no sign-up, no app, and no modern ads: we promise none until Valentine's Day 2027. The only commercials you will hear are the sponsor spots that aired with the original broadcasts.
